20.Do USA Universities Consider 10th and 12th Standard Percentage For Graduate Admission?

I see lots of Students mentioning their 10^th and 12^th Standard Percentages while Profile Evaluation. So I decided to clear this doubt which many students have in their mind whether Universities in US and around the World consider your 10^th and 12^th Standard Scores/Percentages for Graduate Admission. In simple words the Answer to this Question is ‘No’. Universities don’t consider your 10^th and 12^th Standard Scores or Percentage for Graduate Admission.

I will give you a detailed explanation below as to why they don’t consider.

Education System in USA.

In USA the Education System states a High School or a Secondary Education is a School which educates students from grade nine to grade twelve. That is with respect to India, your 10^th, 11^th and 12^th standards are considered as a Higher School or a Secondary Education according to the Educational System of USA.

University Requirement While Applying.

Now let’s come to the Requirements of all the Universities while you start applying to them. All the Universities state that “Please upload/send the Transcripts of all the Post-Secondary Universities that you have attended. If you have completed your Degree then an official copy of the degree should also be uploaded/send.” The Phrases will more or less be the same if you check the website of any University that you will be applying to.

So as you can see from the wordings itself that they only require your Transcripts of post-secondary education, that is, it will be your Transcripts of your Under-Graduate Degree only and not your 10^th and 12^th standard Percentage/Score. Thus you will be evaluated only based on your performance in your Under-Graduation and not your 10^th and 12^th Performance.

Exceptional Case.

Normally Indian Students won’t fall into this category, but this is for Students outside India applying for USA. If you have a credit in Secondary Education which is considered or added up with your Under-Graduation, then in that case you must submit the Transcripts of your Secondary Education too. Otherwise it’s not required.

Can I send Photocopy of my 10^th and 12^th Standard Along With My Application Package?

I have seen many Students who have sent their photocopy of their 10^th and 12^th Standard Marksheets along with their Application Package. There will be no problem if you send these Marksheets photocopy but they won’t be considered while evaluating your profile.

To Conclude: –

You will be evaluated based on your performance in your Under-Graduation only. So even though you have a good 10^th and 12^th Percentage, this will not be considered when your profile is being evaluated by the Universities.
