8.Indian Universities Not in Top 200 of World University Rankings:

QS World University Rankings were released for the Year 2012 -2013. In this ranking no Indian University was able seen in the Top 200. In fact people were really surprised when even India’s Best Universities, The IIT’s were not in Top 200.
The First Indian University to be Featured in this list was at 212th position and it was Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. This was followed by IIT Bombay in 227th position and then by IIT Kanpur in 278th position. The QS Asian Universities Rankings also saw just 11 of the Indian Universities in the Top 300.
The Reason is why such a dismal performance by the Indian Universities? The Answer that was given by few experts was the Lack Of Awareness that was there among the Universities in India. Many Universities don’t even know about these rankings. Secondly the structure in which the University designs the syllabus for the various courses. Most of the Indian Students would be knowing that Universities do not focus much on research and publications.
This has caused a drop in the Rankings of the Indian Universities. According to my view the Indian Universities have a lot of learning to do from these results. They have to focus more on the research and publications as it’s done by most of the Universities in USA. For conducting such extensive research works in these Universities the government has to fund these Universities, which is also a major problem in India. Due to all these reasons Indian University standing Worldwide is decreasing.
Hope these dismal Rankings would be a major lesson for the Best Universities in India and hope they take appropriate steps to bring up the position in the next year . Share your views regarding this topic.
